I researched and wanted to you to comment more indepth here about neupogen. I understand you mentioned that it is safe. Have you had any adverse effects. I looked up side effects online. Some patients have experienced bone pain (that could be releaved without drugs), others have experienced nausea, etc. Have you come across literature or your personal experiences with your patients using it any adverse effects at all. If so, what was or can be done. Are any effects permanent or long rerm that could show up such as spleen disorders, blood, bone marrow disorders. I read of a few occurences of patients acquiring blood cnacers. I don't mean to scare anyone or myself, that is why I want to hear from you on this subject. It appears that what I had been reading that the dosages of Neupogen for its normal uses is much more than what would be given daily subcutanously for ivf versus intravenously. I also wanted to hear in your experience what happens when you give normal patients going for ivf neupogen whose white blood counts are already normal. What happens when white blood cells are increased dramatically through neupogen and its effect of what it can do your body both short term and longterm. Thankyou so much for taking the time to adress this subject as I have not found much on the internet with it and its usages and dosages in ivf, only for known disorders that it has been known to treat. How much a day is given for ivfers and for how long. If problems where to develop, could it be stopped and symptoms be reversed or could it effect blood counts indefintely affecting whole body sytems. What could be the effcts on blood count after neupogen is medically terminated and no longer needed as the prgancy gets underway. I do not have any training in the medical field so my thinking is all over the place. Excuse my ignorance. That is why I ned a doctor to explain things more. I have had no serious side effects from any of my patietns that have used neupogen , and in speaking with the doctors who performed 2 of the largest studies in Europe from Germany and Italy they have not had any fetal or maternal complications since using neupogen starting in the mid 1990's. Any elevation in white count that we have seen (remember we are using only one tenth of the dose that is normally given to chemotherapy patients) resolves almost immediately after stopping the medication . the other complications that you have read about are for patients on the higher doses for treatment after chemo and their medical conditions at the time may also have been responsible for thier problems. Like all new treatments patients must weigh risk and benefit of treatment and we can only let you know what we know. I do beleive that the benefits in most situations that we choose to use the medications outweigh the risks , but patients must accept any risks as well when using a new treatment. And again these treatments should only be carried out by doctors with experience in reproductive immunology.
